A holiday maker has hailed as super heroes two joggers who waded into the surf to return a stricken porpoise to the sea.
Linda Crofts and three of her friends looked on in horror after they spotted the creature thrashing about on the sands at Hopton.
Trapped by rocks it was unable to find a way back into the waves and was losing strength and injuring itself in the process.
The 63-year-old, from Croydon, who was among a party of indoor bowlers staying at Potters Resort was able to summon a passing jogger who was soon joined by another man out for an early-morning run.
Keen to have a record of the drama she whipped out her phone and snapped some pictures, clearly showing what unfolded.
She said: 'We took to taking a walk at around 7.30am along the top. One of us spotted a fish or porpoise laying in there not doing very well and we wanted to help it. We did not want it to die and I am sure that is what would have happened.
'The tide was in and it was quite a big porpoise, we would never have been able to lift it. Then a jogger came along and then another.
'They were so brave. They took their shoes and socks off straight away and waded in. It took two or three attempts and it was all scratched where it was being battered against the rocks.
'It just swam away. It was so nice that our superheroes saved the porpoise. They jogged off all happy and waving.
'We told everyone in the camp when we got back. It was all rather lovely.'
