Major works on Great Yarmouth's Breydon Bridge are to resume soon.
Work on the £7.5m project, which will see its operating system completely replaced, had been put on hold - but will resume next week.
A safety review took place following an incident in November 2022 when a contractor sustained a minor injury as one of the hydraulic cylinders was lowered.
Work on the bridge is now expected to be completed this winter.
Engineers will work from a scaffolding arrangement under the crossing reducing the need to fully close the bridge.
National Highways will coordinate with ongoing projects at Haven Bridge and the third river crossing.
Small marine vessels will still be able to pass under the bridge using the side spans.
The times and dates of any closures to Breydon Bridge will be published soon.
Ajith Nair, National Highways project manager, said: “We understand the disruption to road users and appreciate how critical the tourist industry is. The majority of our work will take place at night and outside of the main holiday periods.
"Many of the key components on the bridge were installed when it first opened in 1985 and are now at the end of their working life.”
