Cat lovers in the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston areas are being asked if they would consider fostering the animals.
The RSPCA East Norfolk branch appeal is being made as it is finding it "increasingly difficult" to get cats into new loving homes.
A statement from the RSPCA branch said: "Our waiting list of animals needing to come in is ever growing however we have nowhere to place them whilst with us.
"The adoption rate is lower than ever and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get the animals into new homes when they are ready.
"We are looking for people mainly in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, however anyone else in nearby areas we would also consider.
"They need to have a spare room where the animal can live whilst with them.

"We are only taking in cats currently so they would need to be confident around them, some of our cats will require medication which the fosterer will need to be happy to administer."

All of the cats' supplies will be provided, such as food, litter, toys and beds.
It will not cost the fosterers anything. In terms of vet visits the branch can arrange picking up and dropping off cats for them, if need be.
The cats will be with fosterers for a varied time based on each individual case.
This means in some cases it is only a week or two and in others they could stay with the fosterer for a couple months.
Anyone who is interested in fostering a cat should email volunteering@rspcaeastnorfolk.org.uk

Most of the branch's work is in the Great Yarmouth area, but it covers from Mundesley to Hopton on the coast and covers the Harleston and North Walsham areas.
