A popular Gorleston venue has saved the day for dance students after Storm Babet threatened to scupper plans for a film they were making.

Students from D16 Performing Arts College had been preparing to film a dance piece outside for one of their BTEC projects.

However Storm Babet meant filming outside was not safe on Thursday and so it looked like the students would have to postpone all of their hard work until after the half term or even early next year.

But luckily the Ocean Room stepped in to offer a place for the students to film after its managing director Kelly Evans got in touch to invite them in.

Karen Thompson, D16's principal, said: "They were closed but working due to preparations being underway for the weekend's events.

"Kelly kindly invited the students in, gave them space to work and rehearse and then arranged for her lighting technician to come in on his day off to work with the team on lighting ideas.

"It really was an unbelievable act of kindness from the whole team at the Ocean Room and we cannot thank Kelly enough."
