Nearly £150,000 worth of upgrades have been announced for play parks in Caister and Bradwell.

The King George V playing field near Allendale Road, Caister, and the play area by Burnet Road, Bradwell, will be getting revamped with new equipment.

More than £110,000 will be spent at the Caister site, which will also include disabled access apparatus added alongside new play equipment. Councillors Gary Boyd and Penny Carpenter said the additions will help make the park a safer and better space for children and families.

"I am confident that these improvements will bring joy and benefit to all residents, and I am excited to see the finished results."

Mrs Carpenter added that new playground equipment is vital for "fostering a sense of community".

"I am thrilled to see Caister receiving this money for enhancements to the park," she said.

"Playgrounds offer our children a safe space to explore, learn, and develop important social and physical skills."

In Bradwell, councillors Carl Annison and Katy Stenhouse announced £36,000 of improvements coming to the playground on Burnet Road.

Councillor Annison said the investment "will have a huge beneficial impact" on the young families and children in the area.

S106 agreements provide funding to mitigate the impact of new developments by enhancing local infrastructure, including recreational facilities.

A timeline for the upgrades has not been announced, but councillors have said they look forward to seeing the improvements delivered "as soon as possible".
