Preliminary work for 665 homes has started at a controversial new housing estate in Caister.

Houses at Persimmon Home's development at Nova Scotia Farm on Jack Chase Way are also being advertised under a new name.

The access road to the new housing estate has been built, with heavy machinery on site and fencing surrounding the perimeter.

The site - previously known as Magnolia Gardens - is now believed to be called 'Mulberry Park'. Information on the developer's website reads: "Mulberry Park presents a collection of new homes in Norfolk, just minutes from golden sandy beaches.

The website also includes details of home properties, stating "there's something for everyone". The homes to be built range from two-bedroom starter homes to five-bedroom family homes.

The housing estate has received criticism since plans were first released in 2021. Around that time, people in the area strongly criticised the project and its possible effect on roads, services and the loss of hedgerows and trees.
