Pupils at a village school gained an insight into housebuilding careers thanks to a major developer.

Construction experts from Barratt and David Wilson Homes visited Freethorpe Community Primary School to educate and inspire Year 6 pupils about the multitude of careers in housebuilding.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia representatives Alaric Ross-Wagenknecht, project engineer, Simon Nelson, technical director, and Jessica Groome, planner, shared their industry knowledge, sparking pupils' curiosity.

The pupils showed interest in the industry, asking pressing questions and seeking future career advice.

Head of school at Freethorpe Community Primary School, Robbie Houghton, said: “Our Year 6 Careers Fair was a fantastic event that enabled the children to explore the world of work and develop an understanding of opportunities that are available to them, as they begin to consider the varied careers available.

“They were fascinated to learn about the many different roles within the world of Barratt and David Wilson Homes and were keen to identify ways in which they could move towards future job options.”

Ms Groome said: “It’s great to see that primary schools are providing students with career-related learning opportunities.

“Connecting education with the world of work is a great tool to enable students to see the relevance of their learning.
