A pub in Gorleston that closed last year could reopen as an Indian restaurant.
The owners of the Tramway, on Lowestoft Road, have applied to Great Yarmouth Borough Council to change the use of the building and replace the existing kitchen.
According to planning papers, the proposals are part of a project to transform the pub, which closed last year, into a restaurant.
In a design and access statement, the applicant said: "Due to rising costs and falling profits the business is making a loss and is no longer sustainable.
"As such, the owner is minded to shift the focus of the business towards becoming a full restaurant, offering take-away and catering services."
A post on the pub's Facebook page, dated December 21, 2023, said the landlords had decided to close the business due to the "potential selling of the building in the very near future".
"Most of our lovely staff have new jobs they can move on to and it's been an amazing 10 months with some fantastic memories to take away due to the hard work of all the team," the landlords said.
In February, a post said The Tramway was under new ownership and being refurbished "to bring you an exciting brand new food venue".
The pub first opened in 1875 near the Yarmouth and Gorleston horse tramway, hence its name.
The Gorleston section of the route closed in 1930 and the last section of tramway in Great Yarmouth had a ceremonial closure in 1933.

In 2021, the pub was stripped of its 4am licence amid complaints from neighbours, backed up by video evidence, of late night noise and revelry spilling out onto the streets.
The disturbances reached a peak during the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
A decision on the restaurant bid is expected by August 7.
