A unique free football coaching initiative for girls is combining sport with dementia awareness education.
Football Against Dementia CIC, in partnership with Great Yarmouth Town FC, has recieved a grant from the Barclays Community Football Fund, administered by Sported.
The initiative offers free coaching sessions to girls aged 8-16, with the aim of fostering a love for the beautiful game and encouraging them to join community grassroots clubs.
The project intends to educate the girls about dementia, its impact on families and the relevance of supporting relatives who have been diagnosed.

The programme comprises eight sessions, organised and led by qualified, DBS-cleared coaches.
The sessions will take place during the school summer holidays, each lasting around 90 minutes.
It will be held on the new 3G all-weather training facility at Wellesley Rec in Sandown Road.

Parents are invited to watch as their daughters develop their skills from a designated viewing area.
Participants should come prepared with sports clothing, football boots or astro turf trainers, a bottle of water, and a warm top or rain jacket.
The initiative highlights eight essential sessions, with set timings from 3pm - 4.30pm on July 26 and 30, and then on August 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, and 20.
However, it is important to reserve spots beforehand as spaces for each session are limited.

After submission, a confirmation on booking status will be sent, subject to availability.
