A playing field in a Norfolk village is set to become home to a new midweek car boot sale after plans to run the events on the land were approved.
Belton Parish Council clerk, Kate Ruddock, had an application approved by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to hold car boot sales at the field on up to 14 Wednesdays a year between 10am and 2pm.
The design statement says that the 10-acre field in Belton has parking spaces for 160 cars, but the applicant expects only a "quarter" of the field to be occupied by a maximum of 40 sellers. Neighbours shocked as BMW 'screeches' down street before flattening lamppost

It adds that the parish council is "looking at new revenue streams to at least make the site self-financing" after the running of the site, which has been "in its present form for 10 years", is "exceeding the income".
The council states that the field is not in use during midweek so it hopes to "utilise" the asset to "generate income" from incurred losses.
As part of the approval of the plans, the borough council says there are specific areas which must not be used for stalls or as a car park to protect the pitches that are used by sports teams on the weekends.
Sport England initially objected to the application, noting that even if the car boots were not directly taking place on the football pitches there could still be an "adverse impact by people trampling over the playing pitches".

The council amended the plans and the car boot pitches will be positioned by the car park to prevent attendees from using the broader field.
Sport England then approved the amended application.
But both Norfolk Highways and the Environmental Protection Team had no objections to the proposal.
