Gorleston 5 Acle Utd 0
Gorleston eased through to the quarter final of the Norfolk Senior Cup with a comfortable victory over Anglian Combination side Acle.
The Greens, who play three levels higher than Acle, took control of the game from the kick off and took the lead in the ninth minute.
A cross from the right was parried out by the Acle keeper into the path of Jamie North who knocked the ball home.
Two minutes later it was almost 2-0 when Robbie Sweeney's cross from the left was headed goalwards by Connor Ingram but it shaved the post.
Just after the half hour mark, Sweeney's free kick was tipped over which led to a series of corners - with Knock's drive superbly saved from one of them.
Two minutes into first half stoppage time, a handball on the edge of the box gave the Greens a free kick 20 yards out, which Sweeney curled home.
After further Gorleston pressure after the interval, the third goal arrived in the 73rd minute.
Christy Finch had come on to replace Fletcher and his free kick 22 yards out was saved by Barnes but Connor Ingram followed up to knock the ball home.
Nine minutes later it was 4-0 when a cross from the left was inches too high for a defender but perfect for Finch to bring it under control then beat the diving keeper to mark his return with a goal.
Gorleston completed the scoring when North managed to squeeze his way through with the bounce of the ball ricocheting off him into the goal.
Gorleston FC are back on the road on Saturday when they travel to Great Wakering Rovers for a crunch battle in the relegation zone.
